We are pleased to announce two internal promotions effective June 1, 2024. Steve Watson is being promoted to Managing Director, AssuredPartners Scotland; and Simon Mabb is taking on a new role as Head of UK Regions.

AssuredPartners is delighted to announce the promotion of Steve Watson to Managing Director of AssuredPartners Scotland. This strategic move underscores AssuredPartners’ commitment to growth and excellence in the Scottish market.

Steve Watson joined AssuredPartners in February 2021 through the acquisition of Borland Insurance, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and industry expertise. His appointment as Managing Director marks a significant milestone in his career and for AssuredPartners’ expansion plans.

In his new role, Steve Watson will spearhead the company’s growth strategy in Scotland, focusing on strategic acquisitions and the recruitment of top talent to strengthen the team. His vision and leadership will be pivotal in enhancing AssuredPartners’ footprint and service offerings across the region.

Simon Mabb, appointed as Head of UK Regions. 

AssuredPartners is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Mabb as Head of UK Regions, effective June 1, 2024. This appointment highlights AssuredPartners’ dedication to strengthening its leadership team and expanding its presence across the UK.

Simon Mabb brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his new role. Since 2008, Simon has served as the Group Managing Director of The Romero Group, where he oversaw a significant increase in commission income from just over £3 million to £23 million. During his 16-year tenure at Romero, Simon worked closely with Founder Justin Romero-Trigo, Victoria Romero-Trigo, and the rest of the management team, playing a pivotal role in the company’s impressive growth.

Before joining Romero, Simon held various senior positions at AXA Insurance, including National Schemes Manager and Regional Manager for the Leeds area. His career began as an ‘A’ Level Trainee in the commercial administration department at Provincial Insurance in Haverhill, Suffolk.

In addition to his role at Romero, Simon co-founded the Insurtech business Booking Protect, which provided ticket insurance for event and theatre attendees. Under his leadership, Booking Protect secured numerous high-profile clients worldwide, including Ticketmaster, before the business was sold in July 2022.

Simon is deeply passionate about customer service and people. He believes that the key to any business’s success lies in winning and retaining customers, which can only be achieved by having motivated and satisfied employees. His commitment to excellence and innovation aligns perfectly with AssuredPartners’ values and mission. Simon is also actively involved with the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA), serving on the Large Broker Advisory Board.
